What do we do as a Language College?

Community

Our school isn’t just for young people, and learning is a lifelong process. We have been offering a course in holiday Spanish to adults in the local community. To see our next adult education programme click here (link).

As a Language College we support other schools in our area. We have provided language teaching at Redwood School and in local primary schools, and we are supporting primary school teachers to deliver language lessons. Our aim is for pupils from our feeder primary schools to come here in Year 7 with knowledge of one or more of the languages we teach, and to have a real enthusiasm for language learning.

This year we are running our second Primary School International Day, when students will come and have taster lessons in languages, dance and drama, sports and others. Click here to watch a video of last year’s event. We are also holding our second ‘Not Strictly Eurovision’ song contest, when choirs from several primary schools enter a song in a foreign language. The best are chosen to perform in a competition in our theatre.
